- The ship has been wired with a ThinNET "internet" type network,
centered on an HP ThinNET Hub. This provides convenient
network connectivity throughout the ship's lab space, to the
ship's bridge, and to the ship's berthing area.
- Convenient network drops are located at various points
throughout the Wet and Dry Labs, providing full Internet
connectivity while the ship is in port.
- This network is utilized by the ship's permanent computing
devices, and is also available for use by scientific personel.
- An in-house Client/Server package manages data distribution
throughout the ship for real-time data display. Several
X terminals are permanent to the ship for real-time data
display in the
Ship's Dry Lab
- E-mail to and from the ship while at sea will be available
late 1994.

- While in port, the ship has a full Internet connection, which can be
used by scientific parties for file transfer to and from the ship,
e-mail, etc.

- An HP LaserJet 4M Plus will soon be available in the Dry Lab. It will be connected
to the shipboard network and be available for UNIX, Macintosh, and PC/DOS
(Windows or Novell) printing.

- Through a custom serial distribution device (known as
"Son-Of-Kelvinator"), users may conveniently tap into various real-time
data streams via RS-232.
