CTD and other instruments extra. The rates quoted above include ONLY the
winch/wire, vehicle, hydraulic units, deck control, and engineering monitoring
(pitch/roll/depth). Equipment quoted as available below is subject to prior call for use
on WECOMA cruises. Projects embarked on WECOMA and requiring this equipment take priority
over SeaSoar users.
Terms and Conditions
- ESTIMATES
- Rates quoted for 1995 and 1996 are ESTIMATES based on present costs and
inflation factors.
- TECHNICIAN COSTS
- TWO technicians are required. Users are responsible for ALL
travel, per-diem, excess baggage and other transportation costs for technicians.
Technician travel will originate and terminate in Corvallis, Oregon. The rate quoted
above covers only technician costs for the at-sea portion of the cruise. Technician
salaries for travel time, staging time at ports of call, waiting days at ports,
working days in port, etc. are charged at the rate shown above.
- SHIPING COSTS
- The USER is responsible for ALL equipment shipping costs from
Corvallis, Oregon to the loading port, and from offloading port to Corvallis. System
shipping typically requires one (1) 40-foot ocean container and one (1) LD-3 air
freight container. Depending on ports of call, shipping may take up to 6 weeks.
- INSTRUMENT INTERFACING/MOUNTING
- Costs for mounting any USER-supplied equipment,
modifications to vehicles to accomodate USER-supplied equipment, and interfacing costs
are the responsibility of the USER. User-supplied equipment muyst be delivered to OSU
for fabrication of mounts, installation trials and interfacing at least 6 WEEKS
before shipping date.
- ADAPTING SEASOAR TO SHIPS
- The USER is responsible for costs of
fabricating/modifying towpoints, towing rigs, etc. to suit the particular ship to be
used. It is HIGHLY recommended that the prospective USER budget travel costs for two
SeaSoar technicians to visit the project's ship well in advance of the cruise. If
this is not done, time may be lost at the beginning of the cruise while the system is
adapted to the particular ship.
- MULTIPLE VEHICLE PROJECTS
- In the event that two SeaSoar vehicles (2 vehicles and
2 winches) are required for a project, the second system will be charged 50% of the
above system costs for the second system. A spare vehicle, hydraulic units, deck
control, etc. are routinely supplied at no charge for single-system cruises.
- DATA PROCESSING/QUALITY CONTROL
- The USER assumes COMPLETE responsibility for
post-cruise processing, and any quality control processing done on board. The
SeaSoar group DOES NOT provide data processing services, and only provides
rudimentary quality control on incoming data. In the event that the USER supplies
onboard instrumentation, the USER assumes total responsibility for data collection,
processing and service of such instrumentation. The SeaSoar Technicians WILL NOT
undertake these functions for USER-supplied equipment.
