UberChart: Time Series Data Display

Introduction
- The program known as "UberChart" (SuperChart) is a time series plotting
program tied in with real time data acquisition from the ship's Client/Server
based XMIDAS Data Acquisition System.
Program Features
Time Series Plots of Multiple Data
- Capable of plotting time series plots of multiple data items in a scaleable
window. User has control over colors, plot formats, axis labels, etc.
Data Browser for Plot Configuration
- A Data Browser dialog allows the user to interactively select
real-time data to be displayed. Elements of the dialog's user
interface allow selection of data types, plot formats,
colors, scaling values, etc. Here is an example of the data browser...
Scalar Data Plotting Options
- Scalar data may be plotted in a number of formats, which are shown in the Data
Browser dialog picture above.
Vector Data Plotting Options
- Vector (Feather) plots currently not available.
Axis and Chart Display Formats are Configurable
- X and Y axies are configurable as to range, annotation frequency, and
label. The
Data Browser
dialog also contains options for plot configuration.
Sample Screen Display
-
This is a screen dump of a typical program run. The ship's
wind speeds (port and starboard) have been plotted in two different
colors on the display.

program window.
Internals
- X Windows display based.
- Is a Client to the central XMIDAS Server -- a sockets based
server for assimilation and distribution of real time data
in a networked environment.
- Dynamically analyses data stream from XMIDAS Server and
automatically classifies data types coming from server
for display.
- Utilizes the XMIDAS Instrumentation Database to identify each
data item from the server.
- Written in C.
