Shipboard HP 28683A Fiber-Optic Transceiver

An HP 28683A FOT is used to connect the shipboard network hub to the fiber-optic cable run from HMSC.

Location

The FOT is located in a NEMA-4x water tight box, located on the far side (from the ship) of the WECOMA dock, in Newport.

Connects to fiber-optic cable via two ST connectors (Tx and Rx).
Connects to network device (hub, bridge, etc.) via standard AUI connector.
Supports both 62.5/125-um and 50/125-um fiber-optic cable.
Supports up to 2 km of fiber-optic cable distance.
Provides LEDs for quick visual indication of power, transmission activity, collision detection, and light status.
