Shipboard Clothing and Personal Items

Shoes
Open-toed shoes or sandals are hazardous to the wearer on board ship and should not be worn when working on deck. The recommended minimum requirement on duty is a completely enclosed shoe (toe and heel) of any material. Persons working on deck should consider safety shoes (reinforced toe).

In the Mess Hall at Meals
The close proximity of persons eating in the mess hall requires a high standard of neatness and cleanliness. Shoes and shirts are required. Coveralls or clothes smelling strongly of fish, chemicals, diesel oil, etc.; dirty or ragged clothing; hats or caps; shower shoes; open-toed sandals; or extremely abbreviated shorts are not acceptable.

Laundry
A washer and dryer plus laundry soap are available for use on board. Individuals should bring an adequate supply of clothing, however, since this equipment must be used by many people. A seven-day supply is recommended for longer cruises.

Rain Gear

Personal Items
Individuals should provide shaving gear, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc. Bed linen, soap and towels are provided on board. Items for food preparation, such as coffeepots, hot plates, and so on, are not permitted.
