Investigators holding NSF grants may be awarded shiptime in which the shiptime costs can be included in those agency's ship grants to Oregon State University. Other investigators should include ship costs (furnished by Ship Operations) within the budget of their particular research project.
Grants and contracts are charged PROVISIONAL per diem rates for operating days. Provisional charges are then reconciled to actual costs at the end of the calendar year; actual rates may be more or less than the provisional rates. Operating days include all days away from Newport, Oregon, days begin with a normal 1000 local departure time. Any part of a day is considered a full operating day.
