Oregon State University is a member of UNOLS--the University National Oceanographic Laboratory System. As such, scheduling is a joint effort with other member institutions, maintaining the following objectives:
Ship scheduling at Oregon State University is done by the Ship Operations Office, with approval of the Ship Operations Committee. Requests are submitted on an NSF-UNOLS Ship Time Request Form 831 [Rev.9/91].
Requests for shiptime are accepted at anytime, however in order to guarantee a cruise will be on the next year's operating schedule, a request should be submitted to OSU by April for research planned in the following calendar year. Requests are accepted for shiptime associated with:
Cruises are then tentatively scheduled according to compatibility in terms of inclusive dates, area of operation and equipment requirements. Late requests are honored on a first come basis and are placed on the schedule where and/or if space is available.
