- Alaska Marine Model MCT 1865-Telescoping Boom Type
Description
- Mounted at centerline, after side of the upper deck. Telescoping boom extends to
65 feet, covers all sections of open fantail and will extend 15 feet over the stern at
0 deg elevation. The crane boom, supported in a tripod crutch, can be used in place
of an A-frame to hold the blocks for trawling, coring and other work over the side.
The crutch can be relocated in port only. This crane is man rated. The crane boom
can also be supported/stowed in a notch on top of the
Stern A-Frame.
Capacity

- At maximum elevation (89 deg) and minimum extension (27 ft): 30,000 lbs (See
note below)
- At minimum elevation (0 deg) and maximum extension (65 ft):
- Boom supported in A-Frame notch: SWL of wire up to 25,000 lbs
- Boom supported in tripod-crutch: SWL of wire up to 13,000 lbs
- Boom not supported: 4,000 lbs (See note below)
Controls
- Located on crane. Also, a set of remote crane controls are
located in the Winch Control House.
Notes
- Maximum loads depend on boom angle, boom extension and load
conditions/stability of the ship. Under NORMAL conditions the PRACTICAL lift limit
of this crane is 12,000 LBS. Make loading plans accordingly. Arrangements for
heavy lifts at dockside should be discussed with the
Ship Operations Staff
well in advance.
